Does anyone know what is the average Cost Per Click on Google Adwords for a term like ‘website design’?
There is a problem with quoting a figure like that. It will simply be inaccurate or it will depend on a number of factors some of which are out of our control.
The average CPC that I might pay for a keyword will most likely not be the same as what you might pay. This is because of quality score. If I have a higher quality score, I will pay less for a keyword than you do.
Also, you need to consider your targeting. Are you targeting a particular city or are you targeting the entire world. If you are targeting an area which tends to have few competitors, you might be able to pay less for that keyword. However, there is no guarantee.
The cost that you pay for that click is determined at the moment of the search (that is if we are dealing with the search network). What are all the other competitors prepared to pay at that specific moment in time and what are each of their quality scores will determine what you pay. Values that we simply do not know.
I would recommend that you simply try bidding on that particular keyword to see what you get. Start low and work up slowly.
