Is domain name relevant?
I would like to create a website in a niche market for adsense. Keyword research has shown several highly searched terms (13k per month which I halved from Google results ). These keywords are available as domain names. The results show plenty of PPC ads. They are two word specific names. Is it worthwhile purchasing them and creating several sites or just have one domain name and optimize separate pages for the keywords? Hope this makes sense. Thank you
Keyword specific domains can be very helpful in search engine results. Providing that the information you provide is relevant. If you just want to rank well and have nothing but adsense ads on the page then I would discourage purchasing them just for this purpose. You can rank well in searches by optimizing for separate keywords just as easily. If you want to purchase these domains, optimize them and use them until someone in that market buys them from you then it may be worth the investment.
One more thing to consider. New domain names or newly purchased Domains even from someone else are notorious for ranking poorly. Part of the Google algorithm (an important part) has to do with the history of that domain name. A brand new domain has no history and therefore has a very low Trust Ranking. In a very competitive market it can take years to get a new domain to break in to the top. The same can be true of a domain purchased from someone else. A change in domain registration can send the Trust Rank back to zero.
Your best course of action would be to build a website (preferably to a domain you already own) with optimized pages that offer valuable content along with the ads. Serve a niche market you know something about and can speak knowledgeably and honestly about. If you can recommend your visitors to your advertisers well, the advertisers will pay more to be seen on your site, your visitors will return to see what else you suggest, and you will make money.
Good Luck
